Damrau out, Sierra in for S.F. Opera ‘Lucia’

Damrau, a highly regarded German soprano whose only previous appearance with the company was her 2009 debut in Donizetti’s “Daughter of the Regiment,” attributed the withdrawal to a need for vocal rest.
The issue is in no way vocal,” she said in a statement, “but one of exhaustion that the doctors tell me ten weeks of rest will without question fix.
