After more than two decades in politics, you could have forgiven John Duncan for wanting to retire. He barely won his seat on northern Vancouver Island in 2011. Since then, his riding has split by redistribution, he and his wife both battled serious health issues (they are now recovered), and most MPs of his vintage chose to hit the golf course rather than face another round on the campaign trail.
