A total redesign for a couple's 7,800-square-foot Woodlands home
Almost every room had the celery-green and buttery gold color scheme that was trendy in the late '90s when the home was built.
[...] though, the Johnsons started with a traditional room - a space above the garage they wanted to convert into a man cave for Eric.
[...] every room was touched, either by fabric or by paint or by fixtures," says King, the owner of Melanie King Designs.
The formal living room got new furniture, most of it custom-designed and custom-made.
The kitchen is open to a small family room in the back of the house, with a seating area and TV.
The furniture was all recovered, and the large windows that face the backyard are now outfitted with Hunter Douglas shades that open and close with the push of a button, thanks to a battery-operated remote.
A downstairs guest room received the home's only real structural change; the Johnsons moved the room's doorway, creating a small hallway and a recessed entrance.
