In 1967, Ruth Pendergraft found herself widowed after her husband was killed in the Vietnam War. In his personal belongings, shipped back by the Army, were a watch, his billfold, his wedding ring, pictures and letters, and a 1953 U.S. Military Academy at West Point class ring.
