Stone snatches SA Open lead
SA’s Brandon Stone fired a third round seven under par 65 to take the lead in the SA Open on Sunday morning.
|||Johannesburg – South African Brandon Stone fired a third round seven under par 65 to lead by two on 13 under in the weather-interrupted SA Open at Glendower Golf Club on Sunday morning.
Stone will enjoy a two-shot cushion of Englishman Daniel Brooks on 11 under after he carded a third round 70.
Stone picked up three more shots as he came out to complete his third round in the morning when play resumed at 7.30am. Play was suspended at 3.25pm on Saturday during the third round, and play was later called off for the day at 5pm.
It meant Stone had to resume his round on the 12th hole, which he birdied before another gain at the par five 13th. The 22-year-old added another birdie at the par four 16th hole towards the end of his round.
In a tie for third five strokes behind Stone, are Ross McGowan and South Africans Justin Walters and Keith Horne.
The leaders will tee off in the fourth round at 10am.
