Municipal and provincial governments in British Columbia must lend a hand to the commercial music industry of B.C. if it is to thrive once more, a music report released Friday stated. Presented during a media event at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studio by trade organization Music Canada, with Premier Christy Clark and artists like Michael Buble, Sarah McLachlan, Chad Kroeger, Dan Mangan and Mother Mother in attendance, the B.C. Music Report calls for more government subsidies and a reduction of red tape to aid musicians and related businesses such as labels and studios to continue working in B.C.
