Crab warning lifted: Locally caught Dungeness is declared safe
The health advisory that has delayed the start of the crab season since November was lifted for Dungeness crabs caught near Monterey, Half Moon Bay, San Francisco and Point Reyes, according to the California Department of Public Health. [...] the agency urged that people remove the crabs’ guts before cooking the crustaceans. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife must decide when commercial boats can head out to sea. The state health agency said rock crabs are still unsafe to eat, and the fishing ban on them continues.
