A fortnight ago, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited began work on the Chobari-Suvai branch canal through the Wild Ass Sanctuary, to take Narmada waters to Kutch. The work for the project was cleared by the state wildlife board in its meeting on December 21.
