Virginia officials monitor roads with snow in forecast
WASHINGTON (AP) — Virginia transportation officials say they're keeping an eye on road conditions as light snow showers are expected to move into the Richmond area.
The Virginia Department of Transportation said in a news release Friday morning that crews are ready to deploy to treat icy patches with salt and sand.
Officials say there could be accumulations of snow ranging from a trace up to an inch in areas to the south and east during the day Friday.
Some school systems in the area are closing early because of the expected snow.
