American Eagle gains after reporting 4% rise in comparable sales
Shares of American Eagle Outfitters Inc. climbed in Wednesday's extended session after the retailer posted in-line quarterly results. American Eagle reported its fourth-quarter earnings rose to $81.7 million, or 42 cents a share, from $61.6 million, or 32 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 3% to $1.11 billion while same-store sales increased 4%. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had projected earnings of 42 cents on revenue of $1.12 billion. The teen-focused retailer expects first-quarter comparable sales growth of "mid single digit" and earnings per share of 17 cents to 19 cents. Shares rose 2% in after-hours trading.
