Lowe has three pieces of advice for people struggling with suicidal thoughts: "Suicide is not the answer," "Suicide is not unforgivable," and "There's hope for people who are sad," if they find faith in Jesus Christ.

The suicide rate for middle-aged adults increased by nearly 30% between 1999 and 2010, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Lowe updated his post after publication to address mental illness and encourage people struggling with mental illness to get professional help, which is the only good advice for people struggling with mental illness.
