Chelsea vs PSG Player Ratings: Diego Costa on form but Azpilicueta and Kenedy woeful in Champions League exit
Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League after being beaten by Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and 4-2 on aggregate.
PSG drew first blood in the tie after Zlatan Ibrahimovic set up Adrien Rabiot, starting in place of the injured Marco Verratti, who was left free at the far post to tap in the opener after 16 minutes.
Chelsea slowly, but surely, got themselves back into the game and were rewarded when Diego Costa, who had had earlier chances to score, latched onto Willian's ball to equalise 11 minutes later.
The Blues could have gone into the break two or three goals ahead but PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp kept the scoreline at 1-1.
Goalscorer Costa was forced to leave the pitch in the second half with an apparent injury, which paved the way for Bertrand Traore to come on.
But before the youngster could make an impact, PSG re-took the lead when Di Maria took advantage of some lax defending from Cesar Azpilicueta to cross the ball into the box for Ibrahimovic, who volleyed into the top of the net.
With Chelsea needing three goals without reply to go through into the quarter finals, the pace of the match slowly began to slow down and PSG took control and ran out the game as 2-1 victors (4-2 on aggregate).
