Mayor Ed Lee gets pulled over while trying to get a look at crime
Mayor Ed Lee found himself on the wrong side of the law Monday night while he and a police officer were patrolling the streets for auto burglars. The unmarked car carrying the mayor was traveling suspiciously slow, and another police officer pulled over the mayor and his officer escort. What their investigation turned up was Mayor Ed Lee, said Lt. Luke Martin, who was driving the car with the mayor in the passenger’s seat. Mayoral spokeswoman Christine Falvey said the mayor asked to go on a drive-along because he wants to address the massive uptick in property crime in the city. Property crimes in San Francisco increased 17 percent in 2015 over 2014, driven by a 34 percent jump in car break-ins.
