Daily Sun

Daily Sun is reporting that chief of a prosecution witness, in Saraki’s trial at the CCT Michael Wetkas, revealed that Saraki’s Personal Assistant on Domestic Affairs, Abdul Adama made the different transactions. The court also heard how another aide to the Senate president, simply named Ubi allegedly made five lodgments of N77 million in five tranches in a single day.

Recall that earlier attempt by Saraki to stall proceedings by way of an application by his lead counsel, Mr. Paul Usoro (SAN) seeking an adjournment was rejected by the tribunal.

Mr Saraki has also expressed happiness over the commencement of his trial.

Punch newspaper also is reporting on the trial of the senate president at the CCT. It claimed a witness said Saraki, who was the governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011, used the proceeds of the loot to repay personal bank loans which the former governor allegedly expended on the acquisition of landed assets in Lagos and Abuja.

Saraki is being prosecuted on 13 counts of false and anticipatory asset declaration which he made at the beginning and at the end of each of his two terms as governor.

For Vanguard newspaper, it is reporting that Nigerians might have to pay more for petrol in the days ahead, as the Federal Government, yesterday, disclosed that it would review the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, next month.

This came as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, Mrs. Sotonye Iyoyo, called on the Federal Government to undertake the automation of PPPRA operations for improved efficiency and transparency and also develop a pricing framework to encourage local refining and discourage importation of petroleum products in the long term.

Vanguard newspaper

Moving on to The Nation newspaper with the report that former Senate President David Mark has been associated with running eight offshore companies registered on the British Virgin Island.

His former wife is also listed as owning shell accounts.
