– SGF reveals why the federal government borrows such a huge amount monthly
– Informs that states may be unable to pay their workers if this persists
Fresh revelations have emerged on Tuesday, April 12, of how the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration borrows over N600bn monthly to pay its workforce.
Vanguard reports that the said amount is being borrowed on the average each month, adding that with the way things are going, many states may not be able to pay salaries in the next three to four months.
Making this disclosure was Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in Jos where he represented President Buhari at the opening ceremony of the 63rd general church council meeting of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
In his address, he further stated that all faith-based organizations and traditional institutions have to sensitize the citizenry on why they have to exercise patience in the face of the hardship being presently experienced in the country.
According to Babachir, although this administration inherited a country that was robbed to the last coffers, there shall be a revival within a short time.
While lamenting the present administration’s inheritance of an ailing economy that must be nurtured for sometime before it stabilizes, he assured that with citizens’ cooperation, the country would come out of the slum and assume its rightful place as the most populous black nation.
