Weather system packing intense showers hits Bay Area
The Bay Area was in for a wet start to the weekend as a weather system sent intense bands of showers across the region Friday morning, forecasters said. The system arrived in time for the morning commute, and intense localized downpours threatened to wreak some havoc on Bay Area roadways. All told, the showers could drop a half inch of rain in the Bay Area’s lower elevations, Benjamin said, with coastal mountain ranges picking up a bit more precipitation. [...] it’ll be smooth sailing for the weekend with partly cloudy skies and temperatures hovering around the mid-60s at the coast on Saturday and a slight warming trend heading into next week.
