Utility player Tyler Ladendorf called up by A’s
TORONTO - Tyler Ladendorf, as expected, was called up Friday when third baseman Danny Valencia went on Oakland’s disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
Ladendorf, 28, has played every position except pitcher, catcher and first in his career; he hit .364 during the spring and over the past five games at Triple-A Nashville, he was 7 for 21. He is not in Oakland’s lineup Friday vs. the Blue Jays.
Valencia, the A’s cleanup hitter, said Thursday night that he anticpates he will be back as soon as he is eligible, on May 6.
