Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham never doubted Harry Kane and we hope he wins PFA Player of the Year
Mauricio Pochettino is adamant Tottenham never doubted Harry Kane would prove his 'one-season wonder' doubters wrong.
The 22-year-old broke into Tottenham's team last season and scored 21 goals to establish himself as first choice at White Hart Lane.
Some fans suggested Kane would struggled to replicate such form in the future but he is currently on course to win the Premier League Golden Boot award, having found the net on 24 occasions this term.
Pochettino has heralded the England international as one of the best centre forwards in world football after proving he is anything but a flash in the pan.
"Harry Kane - as I told you before - is one of the best strikers in the world," Pochettino insisted.
"He's proved that it wasn't only one season. Now it's the second season and he's showed his real quality.
"We never doubted him from day one. He will achieve everything because of his mentality and his passion.
"He's showed that he's one of the best in the world," said the Argentine coach.
Kane's exploits for Spurs have also seen him nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award and Pochettino is hopeful that the striker - along with Dele Alli - will be recognised at Sunday's award ceremony.
"We hope that Harry with Player of the Year or Dele Alli the Young Player of the Year will achieve the trophy," he added.
