Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman the acting director army public relations has reported that troops of 3 Battalion 22 Brigade, have carried out a successful pre-emptive strike to foil a planned Boko Haram terrorists attack on the military and innocent civilians around Wunbi in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno state.

The army spokesman said the terror attack was slated for Saturday, April 30.
According to him, the pre-emptive attack was carried out after information was received about the devilish intention and location of the terrorists. While on a patrol to foil the attack troops encountered the terrorists at Tatakura village 20km South West of Wumbi. There was heavy exchange of fire at the end of which 9 Boko Haram terrorists were killed.

Troops captured 3 AK-47 rifles, 1 Fabrique Nationale rifle, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun, a 60mm Mortar Tube, 1 Rocket Propelled Grenade 7 (RPG 7) Tube, 1 G3-Machine Gun and 7 Fabrique Nationale Magazines. Other recovered items also included 108 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 1 Energa grenade, an RPG 7 Bomb as well as three 60mm mortar bombs and 2 motor cycles.
Colonel Usman noted that unfortunately, 6 of the Nigerian troops sustained gunshot wounds and have been evacuated for treatment. They are all in stable condition and responding to treatment.

He urged citizens once again to always provide any useful information they have about suspected persons to the security agencies.
Troops have continuously intensified clearance operations of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in the northeast under the auspices of Operation Lafiya Dole.

It is in this vein that troops of 231, 331 Battalions and elements of Armed Forces Special Forces Battalion, accompanied by some vigilantes, conducted a clearance operation at Doksa village aimed at clearing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the area.

The team cleared all the routes in the general area as well as suspected hideouts of the Boko Haram terrorists before arriving and clearing the terrorists out of their enclaves in Doksa 1, 2, and 3, as well as Sabon Garin Doksa.
The troops also dominated the area with heavy artillery shelling against other registered locations of Boko Haram terrorists at Buga Dam, Golgore and Lariski villages.
Nigerian army reports that the Boko Haram casualties are enormous and troops have also intensified shelling other hideouts.
The troops also recovered 1 pick up van, several motorcycles, several bicycles as well as drugs, foodstuff and books.
They also recovered 3 tyres of a stolen military Hilux vehicle which was stolen on 19th December 2015. Other items recovered include a laptop computer, 2 mini laptop computers, 4 Dane Guns, 1 Blood Pressure measurement apparatus, 3 rifle magazines, large quantity of ammunition of various calibres, a Nokia mobile phone and SIM cards.
Four women and two children were also rescued.
Meanwhile, in its bid to finally bring the terrorists’ insurgency to an end, troops of 7 Division strike group team B attached to 22 Brigade, again embarked on aggressive mobile fighting patrol in support of the ongoing offensive operations in Sambisa forest.
The offensive was launched on Friday April 29, in the process, the gallant troops once again dealt heavy operational blow on the Boko Haram terrorists logistic cells.
The troops invaded Yerwa and Kaluketu, where the jihadist kept rustled cows. The troops also attacked and cleared an enclave which they called “Abuja town” named after Nigeria’s capital city reflecting its significance and bustling life, as well as serving as their Logistics exchange point in the northeast.
The Nigerian army is close to destroying all the Boko Haram camps and hideouts in the infamous Sambisa Forest.
According to NAN, the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mansur Dan’ali, made this claim on Saturday, April 30, during his inspection visit to the Gusau new army barrack.
He noted the military had carried out a series of successful operations under the current administration and added the troops would soon flush out the insurgents terrorising some states in the northeast of the country.
