Tonys 2016: All of the winners at the 70th annual awards

Spoiler: Hamilton won some.

The 70th annual Tony Awards, honoring the best and brightest of Broadway for the 2015-'16 season, handed out 24 golden statuettes tonight. Actor, Late Late Show host, and former Tony winner James Corden hosted.

The runaway hit Hamilton, a hip-hop musical retelling of the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton, won big as expected. With 16 nominations in 13 categories, it won 11 Tonys, including Best Musical, leaving it just shy of The Producers's record for 12 Tonys in 2002.

As expected, Hamilton also won Best Book and Score, giving composer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda a chance to deliver an emotional acceptance speech in the form of a sonnet. It also won Tonys for Best Featured Actress (Renée Elise Goldsberry, for her role as Angelica Schuyler), Best Featured Actor (Daveed Diggs, for his dual role of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson), and Leading Actor (Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, beating out Miranda himself as Hamilton), as well as Best Direction (Thomas Kail). And in the technical categories, delivered before the telecast, it won awards for Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Orchestrations.

In a triumph for diversity on Broadway, all four of the acting awards for musicals went to people of color. In addition to Goldsberry, Diggs, and Odom, Cynthia Erivo won the Tony for Best Leading Actor in a musical for her heart-wrenching performance as Celie in The Color Purple.

For the first time, all four winners of the Tonys' musical performance categories were people of color.

In the plays categories, aka the red-headed step-children of the Tonys, honors were split between The Humans (4 awards, including Best Play),and The View from the Bridge (only 2 awards, but big ones: Best Revival of a Play and Best Direction of a Play).
