Apple Music gets revamped
Part of the challenge is that many of Apple’s users had previously paid for music by buying each song or album through iTunes, rather than paying a $9.99 monthly subscription to stream music. The redesign makes it easier for users to find the songs they have already paid for through iTunes in the past on their devices. Apple Music was Apple’s answer to declining iTunes sales, as consumers shifted from purchasing music to streaming it on their devices. Apple was able to get into the streaming music business more quickly by acquiring Beats, a company that included a streaming-music service, in a $3 billion deal in 2014. When Apple unveiled Apple Music last year, there were multiple components to the platform, making it confusing for some people to follow. Apple executives said the new design will make it easier for consumers to navigate the streaming music platform, with tabs that allow them to access a number of features, including the music library, a curated playlist, a “browse” option to see the latest album, Beats1 radio and a search option.
