– The federal government of Nigeria has announced Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6, 2016 as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitri celebrations
– Eid-ul-Fitr is annual event which marks the end of the 29 0r 30 days Ramadan fast by Muslims all over the world
Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), minister of interior ,announced the Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday on behalf of the government of the federation on Thursday, June 30 at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory
Dambazau advised all followers of the religion of Islam as well as Nigerians in general to spread the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice to their every day and by doing this, they will contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria
Nigerian Muslims will join Muslims all over the world to rejoice with one another to celebrate the annual Eid-ul-Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan on Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6 respectively
In a statement by Bassey Akpanyung, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, it said Dambazau also urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of “this spiritual rejuvenation to reflect on the imperative of unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong, virile nation.”
The minister, while wishing Nigerians a peaceful celebration, urges total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed determination to bequeath to the nation an enduring political legacy, it added.
