I Tried Black Ice Cream And Instantly Became More Metal
For when you want to eat ice cream but you don’t feel like being cute about it.
I recently learned that there's an ice cream shop here in New York that serves "Coconut Ash" ice cream, and it's BLACK. It get its color from activated charcoal, and it's metal AF.
Activated charcoal is thought to be healthy for their "cleansing" and teeth whitening benefits. It appears in skin care, juices and now ice cream. No studies have found this to be true, btw but it doesn't stop anyone from using it.
It's served at one of NYC's most popular ice cream spots, Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream, where the line is almost always out the door.
BTW, it's at 2 Rivington Street, on the Lower East Side, and a single scoop goes for $4.90.
It's been getting a lot of attention on Instagram and the ~internet at large~ lately so naturally, I had to go to Morgenstern's to check it out. After waiting for half an hour, I finally got to order a scoop.
I'm normally not a huge fan of coconut, so I ordered a different flavor JUST IN CASE (burnt honey vanilla, so you know).

I eagerly awaited my ice cream. This is me before:
