Thousands of people participated in the first Pride March in Steinbach, Manitoba on July 9, 2016. The town, about 60 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg, is in a conservative-leaning rural area of southeastern Manitoba sometimes referred to as the province’s Bible Belt. The region’s Conservative MP Ted Falk earlier said he would not attend the pride march because of his personal beliefs.
