Senator Bala Mohammed, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has dismissed reports that he has been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing investigation of public officers that served in the last administration.

The ex-minister who spoke through his media consultant, Emma Agu, said he was neither indicted nor were his properties confiscated.

Mohammed described EFCC probe of his tenure as legitimate.

According to him, the commission was yet to personally invite him to explain corruption allegations levelled against him.

He expressed displeasure over the media spotlight brought to his family by the EFCC investigation.

Mohammed said his political opponents were taking advantage of the situation to cause mischief and smear his family name and character.

The former minister warned mischief makers not rush to conclusion as he was ready to give account of his stewardship in office.

Report surfaced at the weekend that Mohammed and his son, Shamsudeen Bala, lost four houses worth N872 million to the anti-graft agency.

Report has it that Mohammed, who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan, is under investigation for alleged fake contracts worth about N1 billion.

He is also being investigated for allegedly allocating 12 choice plots worth billions of naira and 37 other commercial plots of land worth about N8 billion to one Tariq Hammoud, his suspected front.
