Reverend Zacchaeus Ibitoye who is the vicar of the church which is located in Oke Ila described the invasion as sacrilegious and barbaric.
He warned that the state should not be turned to a haven for criminals as it and called for peace.
However, Chief Obayemi Aladetoyinbo who is the Odogun of Ado Ekiti and the custodian of the masquerade denied the claim and blamed robbers or cultists.
He said the incident occurred a day preceding his festival and that it would be wrong to accuse his people as being behind the act.

The incident might have been the reason for Governor Ayodele Fayose’s meeting with Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe who is the ewi of Ado Ekiti.
The governor later placed outright ban on masquerade festival on Monday, September 12 perhaps due to how people were being dehumanized in town
