Buster Posey, Dick Vitale unite to fight pediatric cancer
Buster Posey sat with Dick Vitale in the Giants’ dugout Wednesday morning and spoke about joining forces to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. At that point, Vitale put his arm around the Giants’ catcher and explained how an MVP baseball player and longtime basketball analyst came together for the cause. With deep emotion, Vitale cited several examples of children stricken with cancer and reached out to the media to spread the word on the need for donations. Posey and his wife, Kristen, announced their commitment in the spring to fight pediatric cancer, and his agent, Jeff Berry, helped unite them with Vitale, who has raised millions for the The V Foundation. On Wednesday night, they were to host a fundraiser at AT&T Park to benefit the V Foundation’s Buster and Kristen Posey Pediatric Cancer Research Award. The more money and awareness we can raise to get to the doctors and researchers,” Posey said, “the more resources and opportunities they’ll have to come up with cures and find ways to help our most innocent sector of society.
