Current World Bank President Kim only candidate for new term
Kim was the president of Dartmouth College when he was first picked for the World Bank job in 2012.
Since the creation of the World Bank after World War II, the top job has always gone to an American.
In announcing last month that the United States, the bank's largest shareholder, would put Kim's name in nomination for a second term, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew praised Kim's efforts to deal with "today's most pressing global challenges in innovative ways, from ending extreme poverty and tackling inequality to combating climate change."
