Waiting in line at Apple store won’t get you 7 Plus phone
Apple warned Thursday that customers hoping to get their hands on an iPhone 7 in jet black or iPhone 7 Plus by camping out at its company stores will go home empty-handed. Analysts said they believe the limited supply probably has more to do with Apple’s estimates for demand for its larger screened phones than a supply-chain problem. The Plus devices, with a 5.5 inch display, normally represent just 20 to 25 percent of overall iPhone sales, so Apple may have placed more emphasis on selling the iPhone 7, which has a display of 4.7 inches, said Neil Cybart with Apple analysis site Above Avalon. “As we have expanded our distribution through carriers and resellers to hundreds of thousands of locations around the world, we are now at a point where we know before taking the first customer pre-order that we will sell out of iPhone 7,” Apple said in a statement.
