Gernot Rohr’s men who were 60th in the previous list are now the 50th best team in the world.
The feat would definitely be attributed to the 2 -1 away win over Zambia on October 9, as well as the famous 3 – 1 hammering of the fennec foxes of Algeria on November 12.
Nigeria now occupy 8th position in Africa behind Senegal (33), Cote d’ voire (34), Tunisia (34), Egypt (36), Algeria (38), Congo DR (47), Burkina Faso (50).
Argentina retain the top spot as the best team in the world followed by Brazil who moved to second, displacing Germany to third.
Nigeria’s best position at the FIFA rankings dates back to the summer of 1994, just after the FIFA Would Cup; the team was the 5th best in the world.
