Russia to fingerprint all foreigners since 2017
All foreign nationals arriving in Russia will be fingerprinted since 2017, Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi said on Nov. 24.
"The Interior Ministry intends to fingerprint all foreigners arriving in Russia since the start of the next year," Gorovoi said at a meeting of the Federal Council.
He said he was thankful to foreign colleagues who understand the necessity of this measure.
The initiative to fingerprint EU and U.S. nationals arriving in Russia was earlier put forward by the Civic Chamber as an additional counter-terrorism measure.
