Oakland community helps those affected by fire
Oakland businesses donated food and beverages to victims’ families and others in need following the Oakland fire that has claimed 36 lives. Blue Bottle Coffee, Whole Foods Market and Peet’s Coffee were among the businesses that have donated since the fire, said the Rev. Jayson Landeza of the Oakland Fire Department, as investigators and rescue crews scavenged the warehouse behind him. Nybll, a corporate catering company just blocks away from the scene of the fire, donated a “huge amount of food” Monday that went to first responders and others that needed help in the wake of the tragedy, Landeza added.
