Warriors’ Kevin Durant mired in shooting slump
The two-time defending Most Valuable Player sensed that missed shots were wearing on Durant.
The four-time NBA scoring champion has shot 25-for-66 (37.9 percent) during the first four games of this five-game road trip, a stretch that whittled his shooting percentage from 56.5 percent to 53.6.
During a 28-6 run that powered the Warriors to victory, he hit a 20-foot jumper, a driving layup and a three-pointer.
“When I made those three shots in the fourth, (Curry) told me I’m 3-for-3,” said Durant, who made all nine of his foul shots to finish with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
With center Zaza Pachulia missing his second straight game with a right wrist contusion, Kevon Looney earned his second career start.
Curry, who finished with 22 points, hit two three-pointers to move past Steve Nash (1,685 career threes) for 17th on the NBA’s all-time three-point list with 1,687 triples.
“It’s always fun to see the young guys climb the charts,” said Nash, now a player-development consultant for the Warrors.
