Suspended USC player to appear in Utah court on rape charge
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors in Utah plan to lay out evidence Monday against a suspended University of Southern California football player charged with raping a woman after she passed out at a summer party in suburban Salt Lake City.
Many media outlets, including The Associated Press, generally do not identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault and have followed that practice in this case, attorneys said.
Prosecutors said Masina has known the 19-year-old woman for several years and raped her after she drank alcohol and smoked marijuana with him at a July 25 party in the Utah city of Cottonwood Heights, where he played high school football.
