Shocking! Command secondary school Ibadan commandant found dead inside school

- A death has occurred at Command Secondary School, Ibadan

- The school's commandant was found dead within the premises

- The death is currently being investigated

On Monday, December 12, Colonel Anthony Okeyim, the commandant of Command secondary school Ibadan was found dead in his apartment inside the school.

According to Punch, some who saw the body stated that he was strangled by the murderers. Reports have it that the assassins attacked him in front of his quarters.

Although this is unconfirmed, some claim that his throat was also slit. Adekunle Ajisebutu, the Oyo state police command public relations officer, told the press, that it was been treated as a murder case.

He said: “I can confirm to you that the deceased was found dead in front of his apartment around 6.30am on Monday. We are treating it as a case of suspected murder.

“The state commissioner of police, Samuel Adegbuyi visited the school immediately the case was reported.

“Police investigation had begun and the investigating team is working with military police investigating team. We have also beefed up security around the area."

One of late Col. Okenyim's frends who asked to remain anonymous, told the press that the late Colonel was promoted three weeks ago and that he was waiting to be fully decorated with his new rank.

“It is a pity that such a gentle man who was committed to his duty as a military officer and school commandant could be killed in a gruesome manner inside a military formation.

"There are posts mounted by infantry soldiers from the gate of the school and visitors are not allowed except if you have a genuine mission there.

“If the school commandant could be killed in such manner, how safe are the civilian staff and pupils who live in the school? Tony was only recently promoted to the rank of brigadier in the army and he was waiting to be decorated before he was killed.

"I pray that investigation into the murder will not be in incomplete one," he concluded.

The Command school is located at Bode Igbo area of Ibadan, which is close to the border territory between Oyo and Ogun states.

Although the large property is fenced, the school was largely surrounded by thick forest and there have been reports of trespassers in the past.

Meanwhile, something similar happened in Yobe state, when Garba Sani, a secondary school student has been found dead in an abandoned hostel at Fika government secondary school, Potiskum, Potiskum local government area of the state.

The student left class to urinate behind the abandoned structure around 9:00 am, but he it dead later.

A teacher in the school, who pleaded anonymity said the student might have been forcefully dragged into building and murdered.
