Muslim police officer says she was harassed by NY colleagues
NEW YORK (AP) — A Muslim police officer who wears a hijab said a supervisor told her not to "detonate on patrol," just one of many instances of harassment and discrimination she said she suffered because of her religion.
"On a daily basis she would be told that she should not be a police officer, that she should not be allowed to wear the hijab, that nobody wanted to work with her, that she was a disgrace to the NYPD and that nobody liked her," according to the lawsuit.
The court papers name several individual police officers and are seeking an undeclared amount from lost wages and compensation for mental distress.
