Snub of Terrell Owens appears to be comeuppance

Almost lost in the entertaining weekend of the Super Bowl, was the fact that former 49ers receiver Terrell Owens did not get elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Unlike the much-criticized electorate of the Baseball Hall of Fame, which has a large voting membership and is pretty transparent (and will be completely transparent next year when all votes will be public), the voting for Canton is secretive.

There are 48 members of the media in the room - one from each NFL city and 16 at-large voters -who cast secret ballots and are forbidden from disclosing specifics of what takes place.



Because he was a pain in the butt.

Unlike baseball voting, which has a character clause (Rule 5), there isn’t such a rule in football voting.
