Gigi Hadid walks alongside sister Bella, Joan Smalls and Sara Sampaio in Tommy Hilfiger's 'Tommyland' show
Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid created their own theme park in California last night complete with amusement rides, acrobats and fire-throwers to launch their new fashion collection.
The designer and model’s second Tommy x Gigi collaboration was debuted at "Tommyland" in Venice Beach at a music festival-inspired event, featuring live performances, graffiti artists, rollerskaters and a catwalk show.
Gigi’s younger sister Bella, 20, flew in from New York on a plane full of models for the most extravagant show in the brand’s history.
She was joined by stars including Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, Jerry Hall and daughter Elizabeth Jagger, as well as Cindy Crawford and her model children Kaia and Presley Gerber.
The spring 2017 collection drew on the sportswear signatures on which Hilfiger built his brand.
He unveiled chevron print sweatshirts, hoodies and varsity jackets in a collection designed to appeal to millennial shoppers.
His love for all things nautical was also visible with the house’s flag motif re-purposed on crop tops and bandeau t-shirt dresses.
Created with a youthful audience in mind – notably those who populate Gigi Hadid’s Instagram feed – the show was heavy with millennial wardrobe staples among them logo print vests and cactus print sweaters.
With help of co-designer Hadid, Hilfiger went all out to capture the mood of a generation including uplifting slogans such as "Better Together" and "Keep Loving" on skinny fit t-shirts and sweaters.
The collection looked perfectly at home on Venice Beach, with floral printed kaftans and long flowing dresses fit for LA "It" girls among the designer’s other suggestions for summer.
The show was live-streamed on the brand’s website, with the collection made available to buy at pop-up shops at the theme park and in stores and online at the same time.
