President Trump’s State of the Union-style address to Congress, annotated by Vox staff
A running transcript, with analysis, on Trump’s first speech to a joint session of Congress.
President Trump is taking a trip up Pennsylvania Avenue tonight to deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress, in which he is expected to call upon lawmakers to back his sweeping agenda on immigration, health care, taxes, and national security.
The speech is not technically a State of the Union address, but it serves the same purpose: to cajole the House and Senate to enact the large swaths of Trump’s agenda that he cannot accomplish alone.
C-SPAN is carrying the speech live, as are other major cable news networks. Here is a running transcript from it, including context and analysis, in the form of annotations, added by members of the Vox news staff.
