Milan Fashion Week street style: clashing colours and prominent prints dominate the front row
With London Fashion Week having come to a close last week, the fashion pack descended on the Italian streets for the Milan leg of the month-long show circuit.
And with the climes far less sunny than usual, street style stars made the most of their opportunity to experiment with heavy layering and out-there outerwear.
As has been the case in both New York and London this season, oversized slouchy shirting worn beneath jumpers or over polo necks has proved popular within the style set.
However, this being Milan - a city known for its print penchant and clashing colour combinations - layers were more disjointed and paradoxical than ever.
Lilacs were paired with teal, chiffon skirts shimmied beneath thick cotton sweatshirts and midi skirts were worn atop slim fit jeans, while sunglasses and visors proved the perfect antithesis to showgoers' cosy winter coats.
One of our favourite looks of the week came from Veronika Heilbrunner, who arrived at the Gucci show wearing the brand head-to-toe.
Pairing bubblegum pink tailored trousers with a navy denim shirt, Heilbrunner toughened up the ensemble with some chunky black flat boots and topped it off with a statement white coat with red letter printing.
As has become customary during recent show seasons, cult label Vetements made regular appearances in the wardrobes of street stylers, with its Champion collaboration proving particularly popular.
Stylist Elina Halimi paired her red sweatshirt from the much-loved collection with a pleated sheer Céline skirt and block heel Balenciaga boots.
