Anthony Johnson criticizes fighters for not knowing when to retire from ‘macho’ sport

Anthony Johnson thinks some of the UFC Fight Night 108 fighters should step away from the sport.

Anthony Johnson knew when to step away from mixed martial arts, and that’s something he says he doesn’t share with some of the UFC Fight Night 108 competitors this past weekend.

Without naming names, Rumble, who shocked the world when he retired after a title loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 210, criticized some of the athletes who fought in Nashville.

“Watched some of the fights last night and I’ll tell you this,” Johnson wrote in a Facebook post. “Know when to hang em up! If you've already been knocked out in about your last 5-6 fights isn't that your body saying ‘I've had enough’?

“I get that it's a macho, I have bigger balls than you sport but man some of these dudes are going to forget their name by the time they're 45. Good luck with that.”

UFC Fight Night 108 took place live from Bridgestone Arena on April 22 and the main event featured a unanimous-decision win over Artem Lobov for featherweight contender Cub Swanson. In the co-headliner, Al Iaquinta brutally knocked out long time veteran Diego Sanchez.

“Rumble” was known for his ferocity and knockout power inside the cage. He holds notable wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira, Ryan Bader and Phil Davis, and retired with a professional record of 22-6. He was rumored to have retired from fighting to work an off-field position with an NFL football team.
