Presidency gives reasons why Buhari will win presidential election again (video)

The presidency has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari will win another presidential election were the poll to hold today.

Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, made the statement during an address to state house correspondents at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, May 23.

According to the presidential aide, Nigerians were happy with the Buhari administration and would still vote for him irrespective of what the opposition might be saying.

Shehu Garba also dismissed suggestion that the government was detaining the recently released 82 rescued Chibok school girls, adding that government has nothing to hide.

He said: "It just took time mobilising the parents and bringing them to Abuja.

“The parents are happy that their kids are being fed, clothed and have possibilities of scholarships. The President has promised these things.

“The parents are okay with the government’s handling of the situation. I know there are people out their calling for them to be released by the government but what do they have to offer them?

“We also don’t want to release them and have them return to Boko Haram."

Also at the media address, the SSA on media and publicity to the acting president, Laolu Akande, said Nigeria is moving out of recession.

He said: “We are moving out of recession. There is slow move towards the exit so we do not care so much about what we have today with the figures from bureau of statistics.

“We have started paying 30,000 stipends to unemployed graduate. When the 2017 budget comes into force, we would pick may 200 to 300 thousand more unemployed undergraduates for payment."

The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, was also at the media address.

Meanwhile, the information revealed by British politician Eric Joyce that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is dead is not true, the presidency has revealed.

In reaction to the alleged rumour started by Joyce, who picked it from a fake UK Metro, the presidency has spoken out asking the Nigerians to disregard it since Buhari is alive.

In a series of tweets by Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the presidency described the information as plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.
