Opposition MP: Threatening people with war is not the mission of country`s leader
ArmInfo.Threatening people with war is not the mission of the leader of a country. Maintaining
power through lies at the expense of Armenian territories is unacceptable. Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly of RA, whose
powers have been terminated, nonpartisan MP Taguhi Tovmasyan states.
The MP noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited
Tavush exactly a week ago and, at a meeting with citizens, holding
the outline of a map of the Republic of Armenia in his hands,
threatened them. Tovmasyan recalled that Pashinyan, in particular,
said: "We must not allow another war to break out. And that is why
we decided that we should adjust the RA border in these areas. And we
are doing this not only for the sake of RA, but specifically for the
village of Voskepar , Kirants village to ensure the safety of these
villages."
"Citizens who participated in the meeting with the Prime Minister,
who is ready to easily give up our country, told the media that Nikol
Pashinyan told them in a conversation that either they must agree to
transfer the territories of 4 villages to Azerbaijan, or war will
break out in a week. Today a week has passed, and the Prime Minister
is not giving any information about what will happen.
You simply cannot threaten people with war, you cannot terrorize
citizens, you cannot sow despair among citizens, you cannot quote
encyclopedias and declare that 4 villages of the Tavush region are
not Armenian territories, but Azerbaijani territories. You cannot sow
uncertainty in citizens about the future of your own Motherland, and
you simply cannot lie," Tovmasyan noted.
The MP recalled that the Azerbaijani armed forces occupied the
sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia in Syunik,
Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, but there are no demands for their
withdrawal from there. "We don't hear Nikol Pashinyan talking about
how livestock and agriculture have become impossible in three regions
of Armenia as a result of the Azerbaijani occupation. And in a number
of cases, problems have arisen with drinking and irrigation water,
and that enemy positions are already several hundred meters from
schools and people's houses (Shurnukh, Nerkin Hand, Kut and other
settlements).
We do not hear Nikol Pashinyan talking about what new problems will
arise after the transfer of 4 villages, when pastures, arable lands,
strategic water resources, gas pipelines, etc. will come under the
control of the Azerbaijanis. We also do not hear Nikol Pashinyan,
along with his readiness to demarcate borders, talk about the current
threats to the lives of people living in border villages," the MP
stated.
