Tennis legend Sania Mirza keeps motivating women globally with her power and determination. The ex-doubles world No. 1 recently discussed her ways of managing emotional challenges as a single mother after her split from her husband, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. In an emotional conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan on her YouTube program Serving It Up with Sania, the athlete shared details about one of the most challenging times in her life.
Farah Khan commends Sania's resilience as a single parent
In their open discussion, Farah Khan shared numerous positive remarks about Sania. She commended the latter for managing to balance raising her son, Izhaan, her job, and her other obligations independently. The director said, "Now you are a single mother. I am sure there is nothing more difficult than that. It is very very hard indeed. We each have our own journey, and it is up to us to decide what is best." Alongside these developments, Sania acknowledged that balancing her career and motherhood has been difficult and that she has never approached it casually. She recalled the moment she experienced a panic attack, and Farah's tranquility helped her overcome it.

Sania explained, "I don't want to mention it on camera, but there was a moment that was one of the lowest moments when you (Farah Khan) showed up on my set, and I had to go on a live show after that. If you had not come there I was shivering. And if you would not come there, I wouldn't have done that show. you told me, 'No matter what, you are doing this show.'"
Farah Khan also talked about that emotional episode and how she remembered feeling very concerned for her friend. "I got so scared. I have never seen you get a panic attack. I had to shoot that day, but I just left it and came here in my pyjamas and chappal," she added.
Sania's journey after divorce
Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik wedded in April 2010 in Hyderabad, and their son Izhaan was born in October 2018. Following years of speculation, in January 2024, Sania's family officially announced the divorce between Sania and Shoaib.
Before marrying Sania, it was reported that Shoaib was wed to Ayesha, after which he divorced her. After parting ways with Sania, Shoaib wed Pakistani actress Sana Javed.
In spite of all the turmoil in her personal life, Sania remains dedicated to her career and child. She has been quite outspoken regarding the difficulties of mental health and emotional wellness, which has consequently attracted readers who regard her as a source of inspiration for women.
