Most Yerevan schools prohibit use of electronic devices -  Municipality

ArmInfo. At the initiative of the Yerevan mayor, the use of smartphones and other electronic devices has been banned in 143 of the city's 151 public schools, as reported by the press service of the capital's municipality.

"Such initiatives have  been proven effective in many countries. Studies have shown that restricting the use of phones during lessons improves student academic performance by an average of 6-14%. Furthermore, the mere presence of a phone, even when not in use, reduces attention spans. Under restrictions, students can concentrate longer and better," the statement reads.

The use of devices is only permitted  for educational purposes, as directed by a teacher, or for the use of QR codes in textbooks.
