Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom was a late scratch for Monday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights due to the flu.
Because Markstrom was confirmed too sick to play after the 5 p.m. local deadline, the Flames signed emergency backup goaltender Dustin Nickel to an amateur tryout agreement to serve as backup to Dan Vladar.
