American doctor with Ebola recovering in Atlanta

According to the World Health Organization, at least 826 people have died in the latest outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa. Dr. Kent Brantly, who contracted the highly contagious Ebola virus while in West Africa, was helped off an ambulance by a paramedic into Emory University Hospital. Vicente Arenas reports.

Massive earthquake claims at least 360 lives in China

People poured into the streets when a magnitude-6.1 earthquake shook Yunnan province in a remote area of southeastern China. At least 367 people died and more than 1,800 were injured in the strongest quake to hit the province in 14 years. Seth Doane reports.

High temps, lightning spark new California wildfires

At least 25 large-scale fires are burning up and down the West Coast, with nearly half of them in California. A dozen new fires have broken out in northern California, where dry lightning, temperatures over 100 degrees and severe drought have made already bad fire conditions even worse. Israel accused of striking U.N. school in Gaza, killing 10

Once again people who thought they were safe at a U.N. school paid with their lives. An Israeli air strike said to be targeting three wanted Hamas terrorists on a motorcycle struck near the school instead. More than 10 civilians were killed. Charlie D’Agata reports.
