2017 Grammy Music Educator Award finalists revealed

Only on "CBS This Morning," here are the top finalists for the Grammy Music Educator Award. The teachers were picked from more than 3,000 nominees across the country for their significant contributions to music education in their schools. Nine finalists and their schools will each receive $1,000, and the top teacher will also be honored during Grammy Week in Los Angeles and attend the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Two minors accused of setting deadly Tenn. wildfires

Two young people accused of starting deadly wildfires in East Tennessee may appear Thursday in juvenile court. Fourteen people died in Tennessee's biggest fire in 100 years that burned 17,000 acres and hundreds of buildings. The suspects were charged Thursday with aggravated arson. Manuel Bojorquez reports from the city of Gatlinburg, where people are now returning to their homes and businesses.

Massive manhunt for alleged Georgia cop killer

An intense manhunt is underway for the suspect who shot two Georgia police officers, killing one. More than 20 law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are working to track down the Minquell Lembrick, who is accused of opening fire Wednesday when police responded to a domestic dispute call. Murder trial for accused Charleston church shooter begins

The murder trial of Dylann Roof opened in a South Carolina federal courtroom on Wednesday. Roof allegedly killed 12 members of a black church in June of 2015. Defense attorneys are not contesting that Roof committed the murders, but arguing to spare him from the death penalty. Mark Strassmann reports.

Lawsuit alleges job placement company discriminated against blacks

National job-placement company MVP Staffing has been sued by African-American workers in Chicago who claim the company discriminated against them in favor of Hispanics. The plaintiffs allege the company systematically placed Hispanics over blacks because they were often undocumented and less inclined to complain about unfair hours and wages. Dean Reynolds reports.

Two juveniles charged with starting deadly Tennessee wildfires

Investigators in Tennessee said the fire that swept through the Great Smoky Mountains last week was arson. Two juveniles have been charged in relation to the deadly blaze, which killed 14 people and caused 145 injuries. DeMarco Morgan reports.
