An Afternoon to Remember
Tea Dance at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel
What better way to celebrate a special birthday than with a touch of ballroom elegance and a slice of cake – or several! A small group from our dance school recently had the pleasure of attending an Afternoon Tea Dance at the iconic Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London, all in honour of our lovely pupil Adrian, who was surprised with this elegant outing as a birthday gift.
Held in the stunning Palm Court Ballroom, the event was beautifully organised and carried an air of classic charm. With its grand surroundings and warm hospitality, the venue set the perfect scene for an afternoon of dancing and celebration. The dress code called for shirt and tie, adding a formal touch that made the occasion feel even more special.
Tea, Treats & Togetherness
Our group – Adrian, Sheena, Louise, Stephanie, Wayne, Vicki, and I (Fredric) – were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco before sitting down to a delicious spread of sandwiches and cakes, all exquisitely prepared. We stayed together as a group, sharing stories and laughter between dances, soaking in the atmosphere and making some wonderful memories.
Music, Movement & Magic
Live music was provided by the excellent Simply Swing – a strict tempo band whose performance throughout the afternoon was top-notch. From smooth Ballroom numbers to lively Latin rhythms, the dance floor was never empty for long. The afternoon was a wonderful blend of dancing and dining, with plenty of chances to get up and enjoy a Waltz, Quickstep or Rumba, in between servings of tea.
A Birthday to Remember
Adrian, the guest of honour, was surprised – though perhaps he had a hunch something dance-related was coming! His delight was clear throughout the day. During the event, the band acknowledged several birthday guests, including Adrian, and he was treated to a beautifully decorated birthday cake with his name announced to the room. It was a lovely personal touch that added to the joy of the occasion.
Will We Be Back?
Absolutely! This was our first time attending an afternoon tea dance at the Waldorf, but we all agreed it won’t be the last. It was a delightful mix of sophistication, great music, and even better company – an outing we’d highly recommend to any of our pupils looking to enjoy dancing in a social, celebratory setting.
Here’s to many more days like this – full of rhythm, laughter and friendship.
