Rificolona lamps by E-ggs for Miniforms
Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand Miniforms and design studio E-ggs worked together to create a fleet of different versions of this tiltable, flying saucer-shaped lamp.
Rificolona lamps feature a warmly glowing translucent shade with a texture created through a spray technique, dappling the polyethylene surface with small grains of the same material. This gives it a pockmarked look reminiscent of the surface of the moon.
This technique gives the sculptural shade varying densities, influencing how bright the illumination appears in different areas.
An additional playful element is introduced via a tilting mechanism, which allows the angle of the shade to be adjusted with a simple gesture, bringing even more theatricality to the lamp's presence, whether it appears singly or in clusters.
"Rificolona floats delicately above your space, adjusting its tilt to suit the moment, the mood or the light you desire throughout the day," said Miniforms. "Its body is balanced by the lightness of its material, perceptible in its gentle swaying."
The Rificolona collection includes six different models – three for suspending from the ceiling and three freestanding models for the floor or desk.
All are dimmable and made from 90 per cent recycled polyethylene.
